YWCA Greetings!

 

Thank you for visiting our web site.     We are pleased that you want to know more about what we do here at the YWCA and for the greater South Bay Community.

 

As you well aware of we are facing challenging and uncertain times.  We have seen firsthand what some of our clients and members are going through.  Our intention is to be there for them as much as possible but know that we must also look at cost cutting measures.

 

Despite these challenging times we have seen our new child care center World Tots San Pedro do quite well.  We filled up to capacity much quicker than we had anticipated.  This is helping us stay afloat immensely.    Many of our parents have made early childhood development a commitment and make sacrifices each day so that their children can receive the best care and education possible.

 

This past month we served over 75 families  for emergency baby services such as diapers, lightly used clothing, bottles and blankets.  This is a huge increase from 2008 as new parents struggle to provide for their children.

 

We know how vital our services are to the greater Harbor Community.  We have been seeking new funding streams and are working diligently to keep our doors open.
